DIGITAL

THESE ALBUMS ARE ONLINE ON iTUNES, SPOTIFY etc, etc. Download or listen to The NoMen on the Digital Super Highway!

PSYCHO DELI   Not the original 2010 album but a compilation of Psycho Deli, Adobo-a-GoGo and Return to the Rubber Room all released between 2010 and 2012. These albums were the start of the NoMen’s golden years with Jamie, Brian, George and Allan NoMan with the band moving on from being a covers band to originators!

ESCAPE REALITY WITH The NoMen   Nu Psychedelia, sixties pastiche and all out rock’n’Roll. This is the NoMen at their fuzzy, freaked out best!

HALLOWEEN ALBUM TIME   Songs of Horror and Death and B-Movie Science Fiction. Halloween never goes out of fashion. Garage rock and good old noisy rock’n’roll!

SATURDAY NIGHT SPACE DUST   Possibly the classic NoMen album? Songs about robots, space travel, German scientists and dogs in space!

The 5” Lathe Cut EP   Short sharp shocks from the NoMen. The Bomb is only 26 seconds and is still a fully formed punk rock belter! The longest track clocks in at a mammoth 2 minutes and 6 seconds.

IF NOT WHY, THEN WHEN?   A real mix and match album with the NoMen flirting with electronica, prog rock, garage rock, psych0delica and funk…

GLAM 1972   Who knew the NoMen were around in 1972!?! Well they think they were, and these authentic sounding Glam Rocks make their case quite convincing!

IN SPACE (What if Cheese were made of the moon?)   The NoMen take off for the stratosphere in this homage to sci-fi and the future that was promised in the fifties and sixties!

THE EP COLLECTION   Throughout 2016 the NoMen released a series of EPs in a variety of weird and wonderfull styles. This album gathers the best of these tracks into a cohesive album. Any self indulgence which might have been OK on the EPs has been purged and this compilation concentrates on the songs!

THE BLACKEST DAY   Pirate based concept album. A varied mix of styles some of which show the NoMen at their smoothest and slickest; and some just out and out rocking!

WAYS TO ANNOY THE DEVIL   Six (six six) satanic, psyche songs! The tracks for this were recorded one afternoon by George on Drums and Allan on Bass. Guitar and vocal overdubs were added later turning this into a very cohesive and enjoyable album.

THE EP COLECTION   A sampler of tracks from the various EPs the NoMen released throughout 2016.

WOBBLE IT   Allan and George on their own again waiting for the rest of the band to turn up. George on Drums, Allan on Bass. Guitar and vocal overdubs added later by Allan NoMan making this a bit of an Allan NoMan solo album! Last track is from the very first night that Billy NoMan joined the band bringing his vintage MOOG Prodigy along with him.

* All three of these together?

a new career in a new town….

That said if it’s splintering and fracturing you want then the Nomen do it all in controlled abundance on their retelling of ‘v-2 schneider’ – a woozy cosmic flotilla that flirts to a flying lizard trace line albeit as though they were reading from a slightly wiry Air template, a wonderfully distressed solar schizoid.

A review of the free NoMen CD given away at the Fruits de Mer psychedelic festival…

the sunday experience

Ah the recent fruits de mer 14th dream goody bag, we didn’t quite get to mention all the freebie CD’s as hard as we tried, apologies to consterdine for missing the mentioning cut, fear not for mentions are being prepped for later in the week, likewise the NoMen whose ’20 golden greats’ has been hatching kaleidoscopic wormholes in our head space since arriving in the gaff, from that set by way of a teaser their weirdly woozy sonic interpretation of nick nicely’s ’49 cigars’ – in truth just has to be heard, essential trip out groove recorded a few years ago – earth year 2010 to be precise – best described as a dimensions warping psychedelic Floyd sonic spin dryer with added Barrett chemically cooked wigged out mind dyes.

If Not Why, Then When?

Although we pulled out all the stops to get this album out on BandCamp at midnight on Hogmanay it was only today that Topplers Records actually managed to get the physical CDs out. Every CD is a hand made work of art (and yes, the band are making them themselves, or at least bass player Allan NoMan has looked himself into a  Berlin hotel to hand craft them!)

The music is pretty impressive too! The band rock their way through some garage punk, some sleazy funk, some electronic frippery and much much more including a bizarre Krautrock version of a song by Scottish folk-punk duo Nyah Fearties!!!

You can get the album from TOPPLERS or from BANDCAMP or grab a digital copy from iTunes, Spotify or other sites…

NoMen-logo

January  SPACE; recorded at the end of 2014 this space-age album popped out at the start of the year. Classic NoMen mix of weird space rock and sixties ‘Spotniks’ twang!
Jumping on the Facebook bandwagon of slowing songs down to last for hours we did the dirty to “The Greatest Punchline”  from last years ‘Milk Tray’ album and renamed it “The Longest Punchline!” Dreadful…

February – Live in the studio recordings of Hawkwind’s “Hurry on Sundown” and our own “Let’s Escape Reality”.

March – Started work on “The World According to Tony Day” for the Fruits de Mer Bowie cover version album “Fashion” released on CD in December.

Started work on the soundtrack to Dan Mudford’s film BD200. Various pieces we had recorded were used as a basis for this project which was eventually released on DVD in August this Year.

April – Billy NoMan joins the band on MOOG and other electronics.

May – The Glam Rock Years; The NoMen imagined themselves as an early seventies Glam Rock band for this seven track mini album.
Every Sound Has A Colour; an electronic soundtrack to an imaginary travelogue. Contains unused elements from Dan Mudford’s BD200 soundtrack.

August – Topplers records rerelease much of the Steve Treatment & NoMen recordings on a 20 track CD.

September – Wobble It!; a spontaneous EP of songs recorded by Allan & George NoMan while waiting for the rest of the band to appear! (track 4 is a space rock jam from the first session we recorded with Billy NoMan)
Don’t Throw The Monkey Through The Hoop”; revived this old George NoMan solo song with a new YouTube video.

OctoberIt’s Halloween Time; a spontaneous Garage Rock mini album with a horror/sci-fi/Halloween theme.
C-45. A 3 track cassette only EP.
Live version of “One Shot Rocket

November – “In The Computer”; inspired by the purchase of a Novation Circuit this is a sprawling “Rave” based instrumental with samples from The Stone Tapes.
COver version of “Path Through The Forest” on The Active Listeners Nuggets 2 compilation album.
Stuck loads of our back catalogue onto Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play, Amazon etc for streaming…

DecemberKeep a Little Steve Up Your Sleeve; song and video. Our Annual collaboration on a Christmas record with Steve Treatment came to an end this year due to Steve’s untimely death. This is the NoMen’s tribute to the legend that was Steve Treatment.

If Not WHY, Then WHEN? The new album out soon…

Most of these can be heard on our BANDCAMP page

There might have been more that I’ve missed… plus there were the usual NoMen FM radio Shows on MixCloud
